I did something a bit silly yesterday. It was around 3 in the afternoon and I was feeling a bit hungry. I didn't bring anything healthy to eat so I just ignored it and worked through until six. I hurried home, tummy growling and got home after 7. Then I spent the next forty minutes avoiding eye contact with the fridge as the rice for dinner cooked.
By the time dinner was ready I was ravenous. Gnawing hunger that ate at my insides, that made me feel like there was some black hole inside me trying to suck the rest of my body in. Hunger that made my husband look like a roast chicken. Hunger that made the fridge call to me, trying to seduce me into putting its delicious tempting treats into my mouth. Hunger that made me want to say to hell with the diet, I was going to eat everything in the house and maybe in the world.
I had my dinner. Still hungry. Waited half an hour. Still hungry. I had a cup of tea. Still hungry. I had a glass of water. Still, still hungry. Finally, still hungry, I cooked myself up some eggs and beans (fortunately had some points spare for a treat after dinner) and finally my body stopped squawking and I could think of something apart from food.

Beans are incredibly filling.
Beans are incredibly filling. I've put black beans in spaghetti sauce to make it more filling (so I eat a smaller portion) and add a bit of meatless, easily-digested protein. I've even got my mom doing it now. It's quite good, actually. Beans, mushrooms, tomato sauce, garlic, and for a bit more texture and flavor, sun dried tomatoes. OMGYUM!
But this teaches you to bring snacks to work. Is there anything you can store in your desk without it going bad? I keep oatmeal, granola bars and instant soup in mine. Oatmeal makes a tasty, filling snack, especially with dried fruit on top. Mmmm...dried blueberries...
