Things I like about winter
I come from Brisbane so I have never been a particularly big fan of winter in the UK. It's cold, it's dark and in February you don't get to see the sky for the whole month. Here's a list of things I actually like about winter to stop my stomach sinking as the days grow shorter and my coat get thicker.
- Christmas. Mulled wine. Wendy's Christmas party. Christmas day TV. Buying Christmas presents. Dressing up for Christmas parties. Christmas movies. Decorating the tree. Singing carols. The Marks and Spencers Christmas sandwich.
- Snow and snow days. Sitting at our bay window while it's snowing outside. Snow men.
- Waitrose apple and sage sausage burgers. Why are these seasonal? Joe and I would eat them all year.
- The awesome jackets and jumpers I bought last February in New York that I haven't had a chance to drink yet.
- Boots. Warm, warm socks.
- Having Joe turn on the heating before he goes out so it's warm when I get up.
- Snuggling with Joe on the couch.
- Central heating.
- Warm hearty foods like cottage pie, sausage and mash.
- Warm drinks. The way they feel when you drink them when you are cold. Tea with a spoon of honey. Hot chocolate with marshmellows.
- Pret winter soup menu.
- Lots of blankets.
- Being able to see your breath.
- Outside ice-skating.
- Funny woolly hats. Snuggly jumpers.
- Valentines day.
- The first daffodils.
- Warm baths with nice smelling stuff in them.
- Having a warm cat sit on you.
- Holidays somewhere warm. Planning summer holidays.
